Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm

Pay is $19.00/Hour to start, and $20.60/Hour after the first year!

POSITION SUMMARY:

Investigate claims to determine liability with the objective of keeping claim costs down.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Set up and maintain claims files
• Review manifests and research missing freight
• Communicate with outside terminals for dock checks or missing paperwork
• Send acknowledgements
• Calculate cost from invoices
• Calculate amendments based on customer pricing agreements
• Pro rate freight charges in relation to claim pieces and weight
• Draft declination letters
• Make claim decisions based on rules and regulations of the NMFC and Carmack Amendments
• Schedule salvage pick-ups
• Perform other duties as needed

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• High School completion or equivalent
• Valid Driver License
• Ability to multi-task and handle a myriad of rules and exceptions in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette
• Exceptional data entry and 10-key skills
• Basic computer skills including MS Excel and Word
• Ability to think critically and solve problems
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
• Excellent attendance

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Primarily sedentary work, which involves sitting most of the time
• May be occasionally required to exert up to 10 pounds of force and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
• The general office environment is favorable; Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are minimal hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc;
• Visual Acuity including regular use of items including a computer screen or monitor
• Manual dexterity is regularly required including fingering, grasping, and typing; manual dexterity includes repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers
• Talking and hearing required to communicate with and listen to others to share or receive information; May be occasionally exposed to noise including telephone, office machinery, and conversations of others
